OUR BELIEFS
Rooted in Scripture and the historic Reformed confessions, we stand firm on the foundational truths of the Christian faith
Scripture Alone
We believe that the Bible is the written revelation of God's Word, providing all that we need to know for salvation and life. The Scriptures bear witness to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only Saviour and hope for sinners.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Inspired by God the Holy Spirit, the Bible is:
Infallible
Completely trustworthy.
Inerrant
Without error.
Sufficient
Revealing all that we need to believe in order to be saved and to have a relationship with God.
Authoritative
It must shape how we think and live.
What does "Reformed" mean?
The word "Reformed" refers to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. The church had been drifting from the teaching of the Bible. People like Martin Luther and John Calvin sought to bring the church back in line with what the Bible taught.
The following five convictions emerged out of the Reformation:
Scripture Alone
The Bible alone is our highest authority.
Faith Alone
We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Grace Alone
We are saved by the grace of God alone.
Christ Alone
Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Saviour, and King.
To the glory of God alone
We live for the glory of God alone.
Reformed Confessions
We are Reformed in our faith and practice according to the Scriptures as summarized during the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation in the Three Forms of Unity:
Belgic Confession (1561)
A comprehensive statement of Reformed doctrine
Heidelberg Catechism (1563)
A teaching tool for Christian doctrine
Canons of Dort (1619)
The five points of Calvinism
Westminster Confession (1646)
A systematic presentation of Reformed theology
The Five Solas
The foundational principles of the Protestant Reformation
Sola Scriptura
Scripture alone is our authority
Sola Fide
Justification by faith alone
Sola Gratia
Salvation by grace alone
Solus Christus
Through Christ alone
Soli Deo Gloria
For God's glory alone
Sovereign Grace
We believe that we come into a saving relationship with God only because of His gracious work in our hearts. Salvation is entirely by God's grace, not by human merit or works. Therefore, He deserves our praise in every area of life.
Worship and Life
We gather together to worship God twice every Sunday, recognizing that all of life is to be lived for His glory. Our worship is centered on the preaching of God's Word, the administration of the sacraments, and prayer.
Creeds & Confessions
Because the Bible is long and complex, it is helpful to have a summary of the key teachings of the Bible presented in an orderly way. Creeds and confessions are one way to do this. Below you'll find links to the creeds and confessions which our churches hold to.
It's important to note, that as human documents, they possess only secondary authority. Our creeds and confessions are always subject to what the Bible says.
